Why Pay When There’s Free Weight Equipment? – It’s in Your Community
All weights and weight equipment have one thing in common and that is that it's heavy. It's this one very aspect that so often makes it so hard to get rid of once it is no longer needed. Kids grow up, roommates move away and people just peter out on their workout regimens and the end result is that there's a heck of a lot of free weight equipment out there to be had.
Once It's No Longer Being Used - It Becomes a Problem
It can't be set out front for the garbage man to pick up because they won't take it. Besides, all to often the weights themselves are too heavy for the people left with them in their garage or on their back porch to handle. So there they sit until they can find someone to take them off their hands.
Check the Classifieds for Free Weight Equipment
In this age of the Internet, far too many people and you may be one of them, have completely forgotten about traditional “age old tested” methods of advertising and soliciting. One fine example is the classified section in your local news paper. You can well rest assured that people are still using it or they simply wouldn't print it any more.

Place Your Own Adds in Local Papers
Step one would be to place an add there for free weight equipment. Then as soon as you finish with that call, look up the number of a local “Penny Saver” bi-weekly advertiser. They're still in business and people still brows them for local deals.
Think Local for Something That Heavy
Remember that when you think free weight equipment, you must think “local”. Shipping costs on something that heavy will eat you alive and beside, most people giving something like this away free just aren't going to want to hassle with it. So you will want to keep your “cost factor” down to a minimum.
Hit the Local Laundromats!
Finally, one last stop that you'll want to make, is your local laundromat. If you have never been in one, which is possible, yet highly unlikely then you need to know that every laundromat has a cork bulletin board where people can tack up adds. Simply make up a few hand written cards and drive around tacking them up in local laundromats.
