What to Expect From a Refurbished Treadmill
Now why on earth would anyone consider buying a refurbished treadmill? In fact, the reality is that a lot of people aren't just considering buying them, they're in fact purchasing them almost as fast as they can be put out on the market.
Price savings is the motivating factor for people who have grown accustomed to heavy duty, full featured commercial treadmills while working out at their local membership gym. Big brawny commercial treadmills that start out at in the area of $4,500 and go up from there.
A refurbished treadmill caries a price tag that's about half as much as its brand new counterpart. Also you have to understand that these aren't just used treadmills that have been cleaned up and put up for sale. Rather, they are completely dismantled and completely rebuilt from the ground up.
The Refurbished Treadmill Looks Brand New

In fact they strip it right down to the frame. Then the frame is then sandblasted down to bare metal, powder coated and the finish again baked on. New paint, decals, hand-grips, etc. are also added, so in the end, there is no way to differentiate it from a brand new treadmill.
Of course there's more to it than just appearances. This is why each refurbished treadmill is also fitted with a brand new wiring harness as well. As far as mechanical systems go, every moving part is examined, rebuilt or replaced in accordance with specifications on a brand new model.
Even so, there are a couple of downsides that you will have to contend with if you choose to take the refurbished treadmill option. The first problem you may run into, is that supplies can be limited at times due to demand. Also not all brands can be purchased refurbished. Right now the brands that are being rebuilt are Precor, Star Trac, Bowflex, Cybex and LifeFitness / LifeStride.
