I picked up my set of SelectTech 1090 dumbbell just before I shipped out to Iraq back in 2005. It really was a tough choice because we're only allowed to take a few things above and beyond our basic gear, so I crammed them in my duffel bag and hoisted them up over my shoulder along with everything else when it was time to leave and get on the plane.
I had had them for a couple of weeks prior to that, so I really hadn't had much time to get to use them on a regular basis but that it turns out was about to change real soon. In fact, as it turns out my whole platoon that I was stationed with was about to become fully acquainted with my set of SelectTech 1090 dumbbells.
They were perfect for the situation I was in. I kept them in my locker when me or anyone else wasn't using them and simply plucked them out and carried them usuallyout to the rec yard when it was time for them to pull duty. Man! You should have seen the looks on a few mens faces when they first saw them. People who have really never heard of Bowflex, let alone this type of new technology.
No clanging or having to stop to change out the weight on the bar so they work real well in a group cause they are just so efficient and easy to use. Also every marine who used them loved the ergonomic design of the handle. It just feels so much better in the palm of your hand. I'm also real impressed with the heavy duty black plastic coating. They just look nice man!
