My Personal Experience with Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells

My Bowflex 1090 Dumbbells

My brother's Bowflex 1090 Dumbbells - serious body builders only need apply. :)

The very first time I ever saw a set of Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells was a roughly two years ago when I first started dating the lady who is now my fiance'. One of the things that we both had in common was an interest in physical fitness, so our first dates were actually going out together jogging. It was the first time that she invited me to her apartment that I was surprised to see that she also worked out with dumbbells.

She had a set of 20 pound, SelectTech 220 Dumbbells and it was the first time that I had ever laid eyes on them. When she first explained to me how they worked I was somewhat skeptical but when I saw her actually using them I was truly surprised. I was occasionally using dumbbells at the gym that I had a membership to, so I was completely familiar with dumbbells but these were totally different. No clanging, banging or worries about dented flooring and she instantly changed the weights around with the flip of a dial.

The first time I saw her pick the set up carry them to her car to take with us to the park to jog, that was it. Just try packing up and carrying a set of regular dumbbells to your car. When we got back to her apartment I got online to have a better look at these new dumbbells and before I had logged off, a pair of SelectTech 552 Dumbbells was on their way to my place and my monthly payment for them was a whopping $7 per month. Thats roughly about what I spend for my coffee and cinnamon roll each morning on my way to work.

That was almost two years ago and now my set of SelectTech Dumbbells is sitting in the corner of my living room. They are perfect for my home because with their thick plastic coating and broad flat surfaces I never have to worry about damaging my tile and wood flooring. I even take them out and use them on my redwood deck without ever leaving a mark. Until I got my Bowflex SelectTech Dumbbells I never ever would have dreamed of bringing a set of weights into my home but these new weights by Bowflex have changed all that and I couldn't be more pleased.

I recently put my home on the market and the real estate agent recommended that I have an open house event on a weekend to showcase my home. It was crazy, because almost everyone who walked into my living room asked about my SectectTech dumbbells when they saw them sitting in the corner. My home didn't sell but I'm sure I did succeed in convincing a few people to consider buying a set of SelectTechs for themselves after they saw how they worked.

In fact, one person that I know for sure was impressed by SelectTech dumbbells is my younger brother Mark, because he now has a set of their newer and heavier 90 pound, 1090 model dumbbells. At 90 pounds they are a bit too heavy for my needs but he's more of a serious body builder. Just like me and Karen he keeps his in his living room also and takes them with him when he works out with his friends in his buddies garage that they have converted into a home gym.

Since I have acquired my SelectTechs I have seen similar engineered dumbbell sets that are on the market and was relived to see that they just don't compare. Bayou dumbbells for instance, are similar and cheaper but they use a pin mechanism instead of the dial system that is on my SelectTech set. Thats not a big deal but they aren't plastic coated either, which is, because I could never have them in my home with its tile and wood floors without having to worry about dents and chips.
