I recently moved to Los Angeles from Eugene Oregon to take a job in accounting. What a change of scenery! In Oregon I lived two blocks away from a local junior college, so taking a nice long walk in the evening was a cinch. So now here I am living in LA and walking after work is a bit of a problem and walking after dark I think is just out of the question.
So recently I've been out looking at treadmills. Imagine that?! Back up where I lived in Oregon we used to make jokes about people who used treadmills and those stationary indoor bike peddling machines. Oh well. Things do change I suppose and after sitting at my desk all day I have to have something to stretch my legs with in the evenings.
Anyway to get to the point I was a bit shocked at some of the prices that some companies are asking for their treadmills now. I've done a good bit of hunting online but because I live near downtown LA there are more then a few places I can personally check out the various brands and models and the end result is that over the past three weeks I've become somewhat of an expert on treadmills.
Honesty the one that I've found that suits me the best, all things considered, including of course “the price” is the Bowflex Series 3 treadmill. You just can't beat the price for what you get. And here I thought for some reason that with Bowflex, being such popular and reputable brand, theirs would be the most expensive.
It was a salesman at a fitness equipment store at a mall nearby who really set me straight. You see, one thing that he pointed out was that with me being a woman, 136 pounds, the 2.75 horsepower motor and 10 mph top speed was more than adequate. He put me on the machine at 10 mph and what I found was that it's pretty much what I do at a full run. He also told me that Bowflex treadmills are their best selling models and they never have any complaints from people who buy them. I haven't bought one yet but I'm going to next weekend.

It is so cold in Georgia right now and as I have always had problems with my knees running on concrete this treadmill is a godsend. It is easy to control and use; very easy to store and by using the treadmill I will be able to protect my knees and run for years more than just pounding the streets. Also, I don’t have to run in hats, gloves and underarmour – just my regular kit in the comfort of my own home!
